Their daughter Alice Marion was listed as living with them. They were renting the second floor of their home to William J. and Laura L. Edwards (aged 61 and 51) and their son Arthur T. (S.?) aged 24. These may have been Alice's parents and brother. In this enumeration, Charles stated that his father was born in England and his mother in the Irish Free State. I would not have accepted this as their listing except that the family was known to the Baileys.5

Notes*Alice and Charles Chitty were known personally by Howard Louis Bailey and his parents, and much of the information given for them came from their personal recollections. Charles was a union representative. He went to Howard Louis Bailey on Bible matters when he wanted to join the Masons. Howard stated that his vocabulary consisted principally of words not usually used in polite company. Cousin Ruth [Cavagnaro] used to visit with them a lot, same as Mildred visited the Baileys in Belleville.
